Chapter 15

Moments before John fell unconscious, Nima rushed up beside him and dove down to push her hands against his chest.

Healing energies roared through his body as she activated her most powerful single-target spell. All of the wounds he’d received, the gashes on his chest, his broken leg, and the cut along his arm, every single one vanished in seconds as Nima focused all of her power into him.

“That was dangerous! Too dangerous!”

He was about to answer back with a quip until he spotted a tear leaking out of the eyehole of her mask. Even without being able to see her face, the terrified look in her eyes was enough for him to realize just how worried she was about his safety.

Mary and Louise were the next to rush to his side as he pushed himself up into an awkward seated position. The Shielder who he had saved fared better, and only needed the ministrations of the raiding team’s less powerful Sage to get him back on his feet.

The same couldn’t have been said if he’d taken the boss’s final strike head-on, however.

And everyone knew that, even Nima. In the end, John had saved the life of one of Heaven’s Shield’s low rankers. A Master Officer had put his life on the line for a mere Member, not to mention the fact that he was a caster who had rushed into melee range during a boss's powerful attack.

But the truth of the situation did little to temper his friends’ emotions, especially Louise’s reaction.

“Next time you do something like that, I’ll dock your pay.”

“As you say, Guild Leader.” John forced himself to stand despite the aches and pains that shot through his body. Even after Nima had healed his wounds, the after-effects of the blow would linger for a good few hours.

Eventually, anyone would fall under the combined weight of the damage done to their body, even with the most powerful healer at their beck and call. While minor damage could be recovered without much blowback, such as the flames Nima had countered in the fiery hell dungeon, any significant injuries would take far longer to fully heal.

Thankfully, the death of the boss signaled the end of the tower raid.

Every member received their personal rewards delivered directly into their dimensional inventories. Even Louise, who had taken the official role as the raid’s leader, wouldn’t be able to see what each person’s prize was.

But on top of that, the boss itself dropped additional items for the raiding party as a whole. Normally it would be one to four in total, depending on the raid’s efficiency and performance, but the first clear over-doubled that number to ten pieces of equipment, along with a whole mass of materials.

The latter was easily dealt with as Louise siphoned it straight into Heaven’s Shield’s vault. With the viewing access set to open, it wasn’t like anyone could say they were outright stealing the drops.

But the equipment was a little trickier.

Most of the gear drops were specialized for specific classes.
